I AM writing on behalf of everyone at Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice to thank the Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham, organisers of the Bognor 10k, for choosing us as their charity partner for this year’s run on Sunday, May 18.
We are proud and delighted to have been chosen and the funds raised on the day will go directly towards providing vital care for local children and sick children.
Chestnut Tree House is currently caring for 300 children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses across East and West Sussex, as well as their families.
Families are not charged for the care they receive.
Our care costs are £3m each year – that means we have to raise a staggering £6,850 each day of the year – yet less than eight per cent of this comes from central government funding.
We rely heavily on events like this and the wonderful people of our local community who go that extra mile – or 10k – for us to ensure that we can continue providing our care to local children and families.
Thank you again to the Bognor 10k organisers and all the runners taking part – it really means a great deal to all of us at Chesnut Tree House.
