GUSTS of up to 80mph are set to hit West Sussex on Monday (October 28), and the council has urged residents to prepare for the storm.

A West Sussex County Council spokesman said: “Members of the public are being warned to put away or secure all outdoor furniture, ladders or anything else that could be blown into windows or other glazing to cause damage ahead of the severe weather.

“West Sussex County Council would like to re-assure residents it is monitoring the situation closely and, together with emergency services and other partner organisations, are ready to act if required.”

An amber warning for wind has been issued by the Met Office for Monday, and the impact is expected to be particularly strong between 3am and 9am.
