Warning for motorists

DRIVERS who indulge in anti-social driving around the new McDonald’s in North Bersted could lose their cars.

The first reports of the behaviour have been received by the police in the initial days since the fast food outlet opened earlier this month.

Police community support officer Ollie Smith said incidents had occurred around the Southern Cross Industrial Estate close to the McDonald’s.

“If people start to drive anti-socially, then we will deal with them,” he told Bersted Parish Council.“That could be with words of advice, Section 59 warnings or taking their vehicle off them.”

A S59 warning is placed against a driver and a vehicle and lasts for 12 months. The vehicle can be seized if a repeat offence occurs.
