VOLUNTEERS are urgently needed at the British Heart Foundation store in Bognor Regis.
The charity is appealing for newcomers to work just half a day a month in the outlet in the London Road precinct.
This amount of time will enable one of its scientists to be funded in their life-saving research for an hour.
Meg O’Halloran, the charity’s area manager for Bognor, said: “Our volunteers are at the heart of the charity and we simply wouldn’t be able to continue our lifesaving work without them.
“We have volunteers who enjoy their time with us so much they have been volunteering with us for over 20 years.”
Giving time can also benefit the individual as well as the BHF. The experience provides an extra benefit for a person’s CV to help in the hunt for a new job.
NVQs are available to volunteers to boost their training. This academic year has seen 280 awarded in BHF shops and dedicated furniture and electrical stores. Another 450 staff and volunteers are working towards the qualifications.
