VIDEO: Police hunt wanted criminals in Bognor

WATCH out, we are coming for you!

That is the simple warning to wanted criminals across the Bognor Regis area as a team of dedicated officers goes on the hunt.

Made up of volunteer special constables, Sussex Police officially launched manhunt on Friday (March 21) night.

The team’s main aim is catching those evading the law and gathering intelligence on the law-breakers.

Acting inspector Roy Hodder is establishing the team, which will be working across the town, Chichester, Littlehampton and Worthing.

He said those wanted by the police should be expecting a knock on the door as officers ‘actively seek out those who have been more difficult to find’.

Acting Insp Hodder, who was also a special constable, said: “Tonight special constables, supported by regular officers of Sussex Police, have deployed across the West Sussex division to locate those wanted by both the police service and the court service.

“Tonight we have had some excellent results arresting two persons wanted on warrant from the court. A number of intelligence reports have been submitted which means we are closing the net on those still outstanding.

“This is an ongoing operation. It is not going away. We will be knocking at doors at all hours of the night and during the day.

“So if you are wanted consider the impact you are having on your family and friends, because we will continue to locate you.”

During a team briefing held at Chichester Police Station, Acting Insp Hodder said an integral part of the operation was collecting intelligence and using that to put pressure on criminals to hand themselves in.

“We will be visiting their last known addresses, their places of work, the pub they drink and socialise in. If they drive a car we will be looking at that. There is no escape. We won’t be going away,” he added.
