RESIDENTS were left shocked in Bognor Regis after finding what they believe to be a false widow spider.
The eight-legged insect caused quite a stir when it was found in some washing in Berrymill Close.
It has distinctive cream markings on its body and is brown with reddish-orangey legs.
Sightings of false widow spider or Steatoda nobilis, are on the rise.
It is being cited as Britain’s most venomous spider, but experts say the species is not usually aggressive towards humans and that being bitten is rare.
