ART is thriving at a Bognor Regis centre.
The third art exhibition by the Big Love church has attracted some 30 paintings from five artists for display at the Jeneses arts centre.
They include scenes from the surrounding area - Chichester Cross and Bosham Church - as well as Sunset and Sun Flower, all in acrylic on canvas.
Kate Pollard, who has taken part in all the exhibitions, has contributed The Peacock and The Truth among other works. There are also computer paintings of the Picturedrome and Bognor Pier by Stephen J White.
The exhibition is open at the Linden Road venue until September 26 on Mondays (10am-1.30m), Fridays (10.30am-3pm) and Saturdays (10.30am-3pm)
Big Love pastor Michael Johnson said: “The art exhibition brings a benefit to the community. The artists have expressed themselves and I hope they inspire other people to take part in similar activities or get involved in the community in another way.
“It’s about creating something no matter how big or how small. That’s got to be better than people just sitting watching TV or going on their computer. I want to make the town less isolated and bring people together.”
One of the artists whose work is on show is David Shannon, who also runs art classes at the centre.
He said: “It’s very important to artists to have exhibitions because it gets your name noticed and your work seen by as many people as possible.
“It’s a thrill when someone buys one of your works. But there’s also a downside. You are losing something you’ve done. It’s like an offspring in a way. Creating a painting is so personal.”
He has been painting for more than 50 years since he won an art prize as a teenager. But he has stepped up his work since he retired five years ago.
