UPDATE: People hospitalised after four-vehicle collision between Chichester and Bognor

A NUMBER of people have been taken to hospital following a four-vehicle collision on the A259 at Colworth earlier today.

The A259 was closed in both directions following the crash at just before 3pm, which caused delays around the A27 Chichester bypass and into Bognor Regis.

The Observer had previous reported that it was a three-car collision.

A police spokesman said: “Just before 2.50pm on Wednesday, May 20, four vehicles were reported to have been involved in a collision on the A259 Chichester Road at Colworth, between Bognor and Chichester.

“The A259 was closed in both directions whilst emergency services attended the scene.

“By 4.45pm the road was being re-opened.

“It understood some people have been taken to hospital to be treated with what are currently assessed as minor injuries but no further information is available at present.”
