BUSINESS-savvy students have proved they have what it takes to impress a TV dragon.
For the second year in a row, Felpham Community College’s Year 12 business studies students are celebrating reaching the semi-finals in the Tycoon in Schools competition run by Peter Jones from the BBC’S Dragon’s Den.
Paul Darbyshire, the school’s subject leader for business and vocational studies, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for students to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills, and most importantly help and support the local community.
“It is great Peter Jones has selected our initiative to invest his own money.”
The students were inspired by watching a news report which highlighted a parent who had saved their child’s life through knowing basic first aid.
Known as 1stReponse@Felpham, they have been given initial funding to start first aid training courses for local adults and young people.
With the support of West Sussex paramedic Steve Nicholls and colleagues, the team will be delivering training sessions through schools and businesses.
It is hoped with the money raised there will be enough funds for a public defibrillator which will be located in Felpham.
If you are interested in hosting a session, please contact the school.
