West Sussex County Council has revoked BT’s permit to begin roadworks in Hunston, according to a spokesman.

The work was due to start on Monday (June 12) in St Leodegars Way to Pagham Roundabout and was expected to take two weeks to complete.

Concerned resident Joan Foster contacted the Observer and said: “BT’s roadworks in Hunston have been causing chaos.

“Traffic cones and lights have caused sizeable delays and traffic around the area but nothing has yet been dug up.

“We have been told that these delays were expected to last a fortnight.

“It was a dreadful road anyway but it seems no work has begun.”

A spokesman for West Sussex County Council said: “We have revoked BT’s permit to work and we will be working with them to resolve this matter.”

BT has been approached for comment.
