A burst water main has prompted the emergency closure of a road in Arundel for two days from today.

West Sussex County Council has given notice that the use of Canada Road is temporarily prohibited after it issued an Emergency Traffic Regulation.

A spokesperson for the council said: “This closure is necessary to enable Southern Water to carry out repairs to a burst main which has also led to additional consequential damage.

“It is anticipated that the works will be completed within 2 days.”

During the closure pedestrian, residential and emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.

All other traffic should use alternative routes via Jarvis Road, Pearson Road and Torton Hill Road, the council says.
