A MEETING with Arun District Council has been demanded by Bognor Regis town councillors.

Members said they wanted to know more about plans for the town because the current links between the councils had failed.

They said they should be told advance information about schemes such as the London Road and station square improvements.

They agreed with Cllr Paul Wells (LD, Hotham) who called for the session.

“We should ask Arun for a meeting as soon as possible to discuss public realm work in Bognor,” he said.

Cllr Adam Cunard (I, Bersted) said: “I get more and more annoyed about this. We should pull out of the whole thing. What is the point of it?”

Cllr Bill Toovey (LD, Orchard) said: “How many times have there been when we do not know what is happening in our town?

“No-one ever comes and tells us about them.”

Cllr David Meagher (G, Orchard) said town councillors received flak when things went wrong but had no influence over the activities. “We should have more of a voice when there are changes in the town,” he said.

Cllr Roger Nash (L, Pevensey) said it was better to stay involved. “We will have much more influence than if we pulled out,” he said. “But we should make it quite clear we want an urgent meeting.”
