Town centre manager is now sought

ADVERTS are appearing this week for the new Bognor Regis town centre manager.

They will invite applicants who want to take a dynamic and proactive lead in developing new and increased business in the central retailing area.

The adverts will have a closing date of September 25 and an interview date of October 17.

The new role has been developed through the Bognor Regis Regeneration Board and will be employed by the University of Chichester.

Richard McMann, the regeneration board’s regeneration advisor, said: “It is a sign of the commitment of the town’s key partners from both the public and private sector to the increased growth of Bognor that this post is being offered.”

The £250,000 cost of the four-and-a-half year position is being met by Arun and Bognor councils, Butlin’s and funding from Sainsbury’s. It will be managed by their representatives and the Bognor Regis Traders’ Association and the town’s chamber of commerce.

University vice chancellor Professor Clive Behagg said: “The university is part of the Bognor community and, as such, we are particularly pleased to join with other partners in supporting the programme.”

Town mayor Paul Wells, Arun leader Gillian Brown and Butlin’s resort director Jeremy Pardey have backed the search. More details at www.chi.ac.uk/about-us/working-us
