A PEDESTRIAN who died after being struck by a car on Saturday (October 27) has been named by police.

John Russell Gayfer, of Woodlands Road, East Grinstead, was struck by a blue Rover 75 in the early hours of the morning on the Arundel Road section of the A27, near Crossbush.

The 52-year-old died at the scene.

The driver of the Rover, who is aged 24, from Portslade, was treated for shock.

Police enquiries are continuing and officers have renewed their appeal for anyone who may have seen a man walking along the A27 in the Crossbush area, or a Rover 75 prior to the collision, to contact them on 101 quoting Operation Parham.
