NEW speed limits will come into force on North Bersted roads.
West Sussex County Council is imposing the limits as part of the preparation for the Bognor Regis northern relief road. A 40mph limit will be in place along Rowan Way from 100m west of Ash Grove for 200m eastwards.
A limit of 50mph is being introduced on the new relief road between its roundabouts with Chichester Road and Rowan Way.
The final motoring restriction sees a 24-hour rural clearway introduced on the relief road from its roundabout with Chichester Road and the roundabout at the junction of Rowan Way and Shripney Road.
Tony Kershaw, the council’s head of law and governance, said in a statement the restrictions were consulted upon in September, 2011 but were not brought into effect due to delays in the building of the relief road. “Construction works have now resumed and the order is being enacted now to ensure the necessary restrictions are in place when the road opens,” he said.
