Plans for schools are to be drawn up for approval

DETAILED plans are being compiled for two new schools around Bognor Regis.

West Sussex County Council will submit the schemes for planning approval.

The proposal for the new Barton Primary School is for seven new classrooms, a hall, learning resource areas and group room spaces.

The school is intended to be built on land on the southern section of the site six housing development close to North Bersted Street.

It will replace the existing Bartons County Infant School on Romney Boardwalk.

The new school will be a one-form entry all-through primary school to cater for children from the ages of four to 11.

The intended design for the school was endorsed by a West Sussex County Council sketch plan panel chaired by the council’s cabinet member for education and schools, Peter Griffiths.

Mr Griffiths also chaired the sketch plan panel which endorsed the design proposals for the new Laburnum Grove Junior School.

New buldings and refurbishment to the existing buildings on Laburnum Grove will change the current two-form entry junior school into a two-form entry all- through primary school.

The new building will comprise eight new classrooms, learning resource areas and improvements to staff and office areas. Changes in existing building will improve movement between its rooms.
