A FELPHAM student has high hopes for Olympic success.
Rosie Forrester, a Year 9 student at Felpham Community College, is celebrating an amazing year of athletics with her hammer throwing and hopes one day it could earn a place in Team GB.
Her latest achievement has been to represent the Sussex Schools Athletics Association at the English Schools Athletics Championship.
Rosie, 14, said: “It is an amazing opportunity to represent Sussex at the English Championships. I am currently training five times a week.
“My ambition is to represent my county in the Olympics.”
Held on July 10, Rosie came seventh overall in the English Schools Athletics Championship with an impressive distance of 40 meters and 62cm.
Rosie started her training last year with Worthing Harriers Athletics, initially as a sprinter. But it was soon discovered she has an fantastic talent at hammer throwing.
Since then Rosie has gone on to win more than 20 competitions. She is currently rated 14th in her age group (under 15s) nationwide.
Her successes have also included the County Championship, which she has won both years she entered (2012/2013 and 2013/2014).
