BEHIND-THE-SCENES tours are on offer at the West Sussex Record Office.
The archive, in Chichester, is opening its doors on September 28, to showcase its ancient records – some of which date back 1,200 years.
The open day, which will run from 10am to 4pm, includes tours of the strongrooms where millions of documents are stored on more than 25 miles of shelving.
Visitors can also watch rare cinefilm footage taken of West Sussex during the last 100 years.
Staff will be tutoring people on the popular family history websites Ancestry.com and Find My Past – both of which are free to use for visitors.
The open day is free to attend but spaces for some of the group sessions are limited and should be booked on arrival.
