Simon and Ken use pedal power to travel the length of the UK

KEEN cyclists Simon Hutchins and Ken Wheeler will be spending two weeks in their saddles for the Aldingbourne Trust.

Simon and Ken intend to pedal 993 miles down the length of the UK from John O’Groats to Land’s End, or the JOGLE challenge.

They fly up to Scotland tomorrow to begin their journey. Both men have been training for the past year.

Ken said: “I hope we make it as it is a long journey.

“I have been assured that I have done enough training but it is rather daunting.

“I’m sure we will support each other day by day. I’ve remembered to pack some padding for my saddle.”

Ken, from Horsham, provides training for staff and volunteers at the charity’s events.

Many of them are held at its Aldingbourne Country Centre where Chichester resident Simon, 55, is the manager.

Simon said: “We’ve both done a lot of preparation. I’ve ridden Audaxes, long distance cycle rides, for a few years now and cycle every day regardless of the weather.

“The JOGLE has been on my list to do for a few years.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge and hope to raise a lot of money for the trust.” They can be backed at:
