PROMOTING children’s rights has earned a Bognor Regis school a prestigious award.
The Regis School has become only the second school in the county to be awarded Rights Respecting School Award by the UNICEF.
The United Nations body is the world’s leading organisation working specifically for children. Its Level 1* award recognises schools which promote children’s rights and encourages children and young people to respect others.
UNICEF UK professional advisor Will Jackson said: “It was clearly evident when we visited that young people at The Regis School demonstrate rights respecting behaviour and positive attitudes towards each other and adults on a daily basis.
“They also have a growing awareness of global issues of justice and equality.”
David Jones, the school’s principal, said: “Along with the understanding of their rights, the students also learn that with rights come responsibility.”
