CAMPAIGNERS have urged residents to come out and show their support as they battle against housing planned for the area.
The 2,000-plus homes for the Barnham, Eastergate and Westergate areas have been put forward as part of Arun District Council’s local plan.
The Villages Action Group (VAG) strongly oppose the housing numbers and has organised a walk which it says will show residents the farmland threatened by the local plan.
VAG chairman Mike Turner said: “Residents will have a chance to see exactly what is at risk on this family walk. We hope people will don their wellies and scarves, put the dog on a lead and join us for some fresh air, exercise and listen to live music at the nearby Wilkes Head afterwards.”
The walk starts at 11am on Sunday at Manor Farm, Church Lane, Eastergate, and coincides with Arun’s six week public consultation on the soundness the local plan.
The area’s MP Nick Herbert is also set to attend.
