Replacement trees wanted for precinct

CALLS have been made for axed trees to be replaced.

Bognor Regis Civic Society deputy chairman Hugh Coster said the specimens were taken down more than a year ago from the High Street in Bognor Regis.

He believed four had been removed from the road.
“The county council Tarmaced the sites over and left them,” he told the joint western Arun area committee. “I would like to see them replaced.”

He was backed by town councillor Paul Wells. He said the trees were taken down after a storm had made them unsafe.

“We can’t keep taking things down. They do need to be replaced. I don’t know what the delay is,” he said.

Paul Wotherspoon, the committee’s chairman, said: “This is not going to be forgotten about. We are going to get answers to people’s questions.”

n A future meeting of the committee will consider the work carried out to the London Road precinct.
