PUPILS showed their confidence with words at the end of a reading and writing course.

The six children at Downview Primary School, Felpham, demonstrated the techniques they had gained with the Unlock Potential learning.

Kimberley Newman, eight, told parents and teachers at the presentation ceremony: “It makes me feel smart because I can spell some of the words now.

“I said something to my mother and she couldn’t believe it.”

One of the teachers involved, Rachel Adams, said: “The children have worked hard and really enjoyed it. They were really keen to let me know of their progress.”

The course took place in seven two-hours sessions led by Unlock Potential’s business partners, Jane Somner and Louise Barnes.

Jane said: “The school selected six of the children that needed a little bit of help with reading and spelling.

“They have really progressed on the course.”
