A WEEK filled with books was enjoyed by students in Felpham.

It was all about the written word at Felpham Community College when they celebrated World Book Day with a week’s worth of activities.

Felpham’s librarian Simon Thraves said: “There is a genuine and widespread enthusiasm for reading at Felpham which we want to foster and develop, and our World Book Day activities were designed to do just that.”

Author Lindsay Macrae visited the school and led creative writing workshops with the school journalism club enjoying interviewing Lindsay and producing a podcast.

Students also had the opportunity to enjoy a book of their choice at the beginning of each lesson with a short story competition with prizes. The library hosted a book swap while staff and sixth formers were encouraged to dress as their favourite characters, with votes for the best cast by students.
