TO SAY I am a little excited is a lie.
This weekend sees the first of my school friends take the plunge.
I’ve been to two weddings before.
One even saw me play bridesmaid in a dress that should have stayed with Mary and her lambs.
But this is different.
This is my generation.
And I am preparing in the best way I know – by baking a mountain.
Or, to be more exact, roughly 170 chocolate brownies, jammie dodgers and chocolate-dipped gingerbread.
I should explain these are not for me just to eat to pass the time.
It’s my contribution to a dessert buffet – which is an idea I am definitely not going to steal for my (imaginary) big day...
Anyway, this has meant baking and I have been playing a game best described as tasty kiss chase.
Only, in a change to the norm, I am the one being tracked down.
After all 1125g of butter, 1950g of flour, six eggs and 975g of sugar isn’t going to turn itself into biscuits.
Instead I have a plan. A four-day plan.
Monday was Make The Dough day.
Tuesday roll, cut and bake.
Wednesday Decorate Day and Thursday is delivery.
Oh then Friday is the big coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.
So if my oven isn’t on strike my then I will be making something for the gathering in our office.
But I will deal with that when I come to it.
It’s hectic but I am happy. Which just goes to prove that ‘stressed’ is indeed ‘desserts’ backwards.
There is just something special about being able to do something you enjoy to help others.
In this case, whether it is to celebrate someone’s big day or raise funds for a great cause.
Speaking of which, there are a few exciting projects in the piping bag...
