FINALLY we seem to have turned the corner and are having more warm, dry days than wet!
And it is usually about this time that I have thoughts of wearing summer clothes, having spent the winter months covered up in layers, and I tend to cast a rather critical eye over my not-quite ‘beach body’.
We all know about the media pressure that is created by all the images of size-zero models surrounding us.
But today I’d like you to think more than skin deep, because we are so much more, and our bodies give us so much more, than the exterior we tend to focus on.
Consider how amazing your body actually is.
Made up of about 37.2 trillion cells, the human brain cell can hold five times as much information as the Encyclopedia Britannica.
Nerve impulses travel to and from the brain as fast as 170mph.
One human hair can support 3.5 ounces.
The human heart creates enough pressure to squirt blood 30 feet.
The acid in your stomach is strong enough to dissolve razorblades.
Sneezes regularly exceed 100mph.
Your nose can remember 50,000 different scents.
So instead of dwelling on a flabby bit or a saggy bit, I invite you to love your awesome body, for all the incredible things it does every day without you even knowing and for all the wondrous experiences it allows you to have.
You can see a glorious sunset, hear a skylark, taste a strawberry, cuddle your children, hear and feel your cat purring or a Lamborghini passing by. You can get the giggles or cry at a movie.
All these things are made possible because of your amazing body, so show your body some appreciation today.
