FUNDRAISING ladies at Bognor Regis Motor Club are leading a drive towards half a million pounds for charity.

The organising team behind the club’s Regis Classic Tour expects the annual event to raise another £30,000 at least.

That will be added to the current total of £450,950.32 raised over the past 17 years.

The latest event will take place from March 20 to 22. It will again be in aid of Against Breast Cancer and Orchid – Fighting Male Cancer.

Ali Green, one of the organisers, said: “We have now got extensive experience producing one of the best classic car weekend tours in the calendar and charge much less than the commercially-organised events.

“The team pride themselves on their friendly and professional approach and good housekeeping skills to ensure that as much money is donated as possible each year.”

The continued backing of car dealers Frosts, for the eighth year, played a part in this, she said.

“As in previous years, there is terrific support from so many regular participants who enter every year and bring family and friends along to enjoy the fun.

“Crews take part from all over the UK and bring a wide range of classic cars, many celebrating the highlight of British motoring: Allard, Alvis, Austin Healey, Bentley, Daimler, Ford and Jaguar and other famous European makes such as Mercedes and Porsche.”

Eligible cars should be registered before 1980 but more modern and interesting classic cars will be considered.

The 2015 tour, the 18th, will visit Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset and be based at Chilworth Manor, north of Southampton.

After arriving on Friday evening, Saturday sees a visit to the atmospheric town of Shaftesbury before visits to Bradley House and Lamer Tree Gardens before a dinner and auction back at the hotel.

The final day will see a visit to WDK Motorsports, which made some of the cars for the film Rush, and the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery.

Entry fee for the tour will be £350. Call Ali green on 01243 542674 or email: alitherally@btinernet.com to book one of the few remaining places.
