New parking spaces plan for school

NEW parking spaces are due to be created at Rose Green Junior School.

West Sussex County Council wants to convert an existing green space to provide a drop-off zone and 24 spaces for car parking.

There will also be two spaces for disabled motorists. Improved access to Raleigh Road will be created as well.

Extended pedestrian and cycle access to the school of some 370 pupils will be provided with a new entrance and wider footways.

The need to improve the congestion along Raleigh Road at the start and end of school days has been a concern for many years.

A statement with the planning application says: “The current issue outside the school contributes to congestion which reduces confidence in greener travel choice.”

A previous plan for an extended layout has been rejected. It would have involved moving telegraph poles and drainage and it was doubted if it would improve the situation.
