PUBLIC exhibitions will be held next month about plans to brighten up Bognor Regis town centre.
The four displays will show off proposals such as those shown aimed at improving the route from the railway station to the seafront.
This area of the public realm includes the London Road precinct and the Place St Maur.
Bognor Regis, Arun and West Sussex councils have joined forces to deliver the £280,000 project.
Gillian Brown, Arun’s leader, said: “This joint project is set to progress plans to enhance and improve public areas in Bognor for the benefits and visitors to the town.
“I hope as many people as possible will take the opportunity to see the plans and give their views during the consultation process so they can help shape the way forward with their ideas as detailed plans are drawn up.”
Staffed displays will take place from 5pm-7pm on March 7 at the Alexandra Theatre.
It will be repeated from 10.30am-3pm on March 8 and 9 at a town centre venue yet to be confirmed.
An unstaffed exhibition will be held from March 11-13 at the town hall.
The councils have appointed landscape consultants LDA Design to prepare proposals. They include ideas for distinctive new signage, planting, lighting and seating.
The first phase of the work should be completed by March, 2014.
It is being funded by £100,000 of the £500,000 Sainsbury’s has given to the town centre and £180,000 from the county council’s Kick Start funding.
More money is being sought for further work.
Rob Aspland, a director of LDA Design, said: “This project represents an exciting opportunity to improve the look and feel of Bognor town centre through a high quality, durable and sustainable public realm.
“The proposals will help the town centre to become more popular to visitors, investors and local people.”
