PLANS for more than 40 homes have been revealed.
Orchard Homes Development has applied for planning permission for the 42 houses and flats in Pagham.
The company wants to build the estate to the west of Pagham Road.
Its planning agent, Rebecca Gray, said in a statement: “Of the 42 dwellings proposed, 13 are affordable houses to help meet an identified need within the district.
“The scheme will also bring forward a range of community benefits, including a mix of house types and sizes, as well as the provision of attractive public open space for use by current and future occupiers in the vicinity of the site.
“The site has been identified for development within the draft Pagham neighbourhood plan and is known as ‘land south of Inglenook Hotel’.”
The developer had regularly contacted Pagham and Arun councils as the scheme was drawn up. It had also taken part in a public exhibition stated by the parish council to explain it to residents, she said
The planned housing will be a mix of one to four bedroom houses and four two-bed flats.
One house currently stands there with a garden, an orchard and a horse paddock.
