THREE-year-old Bognor Regis cyclist Lucy Anne Shorrock-Freestone is in for the biggest ride of her life.

Lucy Anne will be joining scores of other riders with their sights on becoming a British champion.

She will take part in this Sunday’s qualifying event of the Strider British Balance Bike Championships in Gosport. The best riders will win places in the finals in Manchester in September.

Lucy’s dad, Jonathan Freestone, said: “Lucy loves her bike. So, when I saw there was a friendly race, I just had to enter her.

“Lucy loves to ride her bike at every opportunity, from the front door to the car. She has even tried to take it upstairs at bedtime.”

The heats at Gosport BMX are among five which began in London last month with more than 100 riders. Riders between 18 months and five years can join in.

Organiser Melanie Thomas said: “The events are open to anyone, no matter what their ability, with opportunities to train and ride at organised coaching sessions before the big day. They are designed to be exciting, yet safe, environments for children.”
