RESIDENTS are being encouraged to look out for a healthy eating logo across Bognor Regis.
The Eat Out, Eat Well scheme has been developed to encourage any catering establishment to offer healthier menu options.
The free award is open to all types of food businesses that cater for the public and will be assessed and managed by councils including Arun District Council.
Paul Dendle, Arun’s cabinet member for environmental services, said: “Eat Out, Eat Well has proved a great success in other areas and we are confident it will prove popular in our district too. By encouraging restaurants, cafes and canteens to provide nutritious options, we are giving people the chance to make a healthy choice when they want to.”
Symbolised by an apple logo in the shape of a heart, there are three levels of the award scheme – bronze, silver and gold – based on a scoring system taking into account the type of food on offer, how it is prepared, and how it is promoted.
