A WOMAN with an entrepreneurial spirit who runs a merchandise firm in Funtington has been nominated for this year’s Woman of the Year Awards 2014.
Jackie Sharp, who has been nominated for the category of Woman in Business, is the founder of Co Prom Ltd, which she set up in 1984.
The company, which is celebrating it’s 30th birthday, has sourced, produced and delivered merchandise to businesses companies like Gilette and Kelloggs.
The business has gone from strength to strength, supplying promotional items such as calendars, a clock shaped like a car for Goodwood and light-up sports bottles for St Wilfrid’s charity moonwalk.
“We know and can prove they are more memorable and cost-effective than TV, newspaper or radio advertising at building sales,” said Jackie.
But the company also supports charities.
“Since September 2013 we have noticed an increase in orders and have decided to support all the charities we supply.
“For example, three members of staff walked the 14 miles in the Marsden March as we supplied its t-shirts.”
Jackie has not only battled through recessions, but also illness and operations.
She believes her ‘tenacity’ is what has helped the business to succeed and said her vision for the future was ‘to learn more from employing local students, source more amazing novel items, provide personal service, deliver good-quality items on time and within budget’.
