CUSTOMERS of a Bognor Regis store have begun to vote for their favourite charity in the town.
Sainsbury’s has launched the search for the next charity partner for its Shripney Road store. The company has asked its shoppers to cast their votes and help one of the town’s good causes receive a year’s worth of support and fundraising.
Store manager Ian Maxey said: “We’re looking forward to supporting a local charity which touches many of our customers’ and colleagues’ hearts.
“The scheme gives us a chance to make a real difference to important causes in the community. We hope our customers get behind this year’s voting stage and nominate their favourite local charity from May 28.”
The local charity partner for the year just ended was the Bognor Housing Trust.
It is due to be presented with a cheque once all the fundraising has been put together.
Among the activities was a rowing challenge.
The partnership between the store and trust also helped to raise awareness about the work of the charity.
Voting to choose the next charity partner opened yesterday and continues until June 8.
Customers can either vote in the store or online at www.sainsburys.co.uk/localcharity.
After voting closes, a shortlist of nominations will be compiled.
Employees at the store will invite the three charities they feel best fit the needs of the community to meet them to talk about how they will benefit from support.
The chosen charity will be selected based on the reasons given and the store will announce its chosen charity in July.
Sainsbury’s Local Charity initiative has just started its sixth year.
