RESIDENTS of Yapton have been urged to turn out today to help to plot the village’s future.

MP Nick Gibb has viewed a display which is on show from 12.30pm-8.30pm at the village hall.

It contains facts about the village and is the focal point of the drop-in day by Yapton Neighbourhood Planning Group as it creates a neighbourhood plan.

Mr Gibb, who is the village’s MP, said: “The government is trying to move decision-making, particularly about issues such as planning, to the local level.

“So, the more people who take part in the decision-making process the more credibility and impact those views will have on the future of the village.

“We have had a number of decisions in recent years about building in Yapton that were not in tune with people’s wishes.

“This event is a way of ensuring residents’ views prevail over the views of developers.”

The drop-in day will enable villagers to say what they most value about Yapton.
