A NEW award has begun to fly above Bognor Regis seafront.
The 2014 Seaside Award was raised on one of the promenade’s flagpoles today (Tuesday, May 20).
Arun District Council chairman Cllr Terence Chapman and its cabinet member for environmental services, Cllr Paul Dendle, were joined by the town mayor, Cllr Tony Gardiner for the ceremony.
Cllr Dendle said: “A clean and tidy beach with good facilities can be a fantastic asset for tourism and worth a great deal to the district’s local economy.”
The award recognises the seafront facilities from Arun on Bognor’s east beach from the pier to Gloucester Road.
It also shows the seafront has met the minimum water standards set by the EU.
