THERE are high hopes the new era of a Westergate school will see it become a shinning beacon for education across the area.

The Ormiston Six Villages Academy, formerly Westergate Community School celebrated its official launch since it joined the trust’s group of academies in style.

Principle Steve Nelmes told students the change brought with it huge opportunities for them and he hoped it would see them achieve the best they possibly could.

“We are on a journey that will prove to everyone that our good school is a great school. Our academy will be known as world class and you will all have a springboard for the future,” said Mr Nelmes.

He said the historic occasion was one to be enjoyed and celebrated, and added it was the start of a journey that would signal a new chapter for the school.
