POLICE investigating the rape of a woman in Bognor Regis have bailed a 45-year-old man from the town.
The offence is reported to have taken place overnight last Saturday, July 12, at a premises in an area towards the northern end of The Steyne.
Officers are currently undertaking enquiries at that location.
Detective Inspector Jim McKnight said: “At this time, we are trying to establish the full circumstances and specialist officers are with the woman who is understandably extremely upset by the incident.
“I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area between the late evening of Saturday and early hours of Sunday.
“This incident would appear to revolve around a particular set of circumstances and is not believed to be linked to any other matters.”

The 45-year-old man from Bognor was arrested on Monday, July 14. He was subsequently released on police bail until October 3 while enquiries continue.
