IT is business as usual at a funeral directors despite a car ploughing into its North Bersted premises.
Funeral director Sue Holland and her staff have carried on their work in spite of the accident at the Chichester Road premises of Kevin Holland around 6.15pm last night (Thursday, February 6).
She said: “We are functioning. The main reception was damaged but we are lucky in that we have a double-fronted building with two front offices with a main office behind.
“That has enabled us to continue our work.
“Our building was two shops. One shopfront was completely wrecked and it’s getting people to realise they can still come in one of the front doors.”
The damaged area was quickly cleared, said Mrs Holland. A passing builder and family friend secured the site as soon as possible.
The accident was the result of a collision between two cars outside the premises.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident. They removed the car from the building and made sure the area was safe.
Firefighters were at the scene for almost an hour and a half.
Sussex Police have also appealed for witnesses.
Anyone who saw anything should call police on 101.
