UPDATE: Barnham and Eastergate say yes to neighbourhood plan

AN overwhelming backing has been given as residents in Barnham and Eastergate give the thumbs-up to their neighbourhood plan.

Following yesterday’s (Wednesday, July 2) referendum the joint Barnham and Eastergate Neighbourhood plan has been accepted by residents.

More than 1,000 villagers turned out to cast their vote giving a big yes to the document which has been some two years in the making.

The votes cast in the Barnham and Eastergate referendum were:

Total votes: 1,330

Turnout: 36.3 per cent

Yes votes: 1,264

No votes: 63

Rejected (spoilt) papers: 3
