Two teenage girls sexually assaulted in Angmering

THE SAME man is thought to be responsible for two sexual assaults on teenage girls in Angmering.

A 17-year-old was attacked between 2pm and 3pm on Friday (November 27), as she walked across the football fields on the corner of Station Road and the Roundstone by-pass.

She was forced to ground and sexually assaulted before the man, described as white, aged about 20, of a big build with short brown hair

and a large or possibly broken nose, ran off.

Two weeks ago, the Littlehampton Gazette reported that a 15-year-old girl, who was walking her dog on Ham Manor Golf Course, between Ham Manor Way and North Drive on November 1, was pulled to the ground from behind and assaulted. The attacker, who was wearing a baggy, plain black cotton hoodie with black string around the hood and gold rings around the string, and tracksuit bottoms, was disturbed by a passer-by, believed to be about 70 and using a walking stick, and made off.

DS Alan Pack said; "Such assaults are very rare in West Sussex and even more so in Angmering. I have officers and staff dedicated to this enquiry, and our partners have been informed, including local schools.

"We always advise young people and parents to take sensible common-sense precautions. Always let someone know where you are and where you are going, and report any suspicious sightings or approaches."

He urged the witness of the first incident to get in touch with police.

"I believe he will have crucial information. If anyone has other information regarding any aspect of this investigation, in particular if they recognise the hoodie with gold rings on the draw string, I would ask them to contact us urgently."
