THE spotlight will be on healthy eating in Yapton as a free workshop starts.
The new workshop for people who wish to lose weight and learn more about leading a healthy lifestyle is set to begin in village in the coming weeks.
Cllr Paul Wotherspoon, Arun District Council’s cabinet member for community services, said: “We understand that it’s not easy to lose weight and there’s lots of confusion around what are good and bad things to eat, which is why the WISE course is so fantastic.
“The staff can help introduce you to a more nutritious diet and teach you gentle exercise techniques to boost fitness and energy levels.”
The 12-week course will include a weekly interactive nutritional talk followed by a 30-minute gentle activity class, designed to show you easy ways of getting your heart rate up which can also be done at home.
It is designed for people with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25-29, so they can bring that BMI – which measures whether you are a healthy weight for your height – into the ideal 18.5-24.9 range.
The course starts on September 8, at Yapton and Ford Village Hall, and runs from 10am-midday.
