Team success for disabled

COMPETITORS from Arun Sports Association for the Disabled won a host of medals at a regional sporting event.

The 14 members clinched gold in the men’s table tennis, gold and silver in the bean bag, gold in stick ball, all three medals in short mat bowls and bronze in the team bochia competition.

The team just missed out on winning the team cup this year.

Mike Fildes was one of three members from Bognor Rotary Club with president David Wheeer and Trevor Smallcorn who transported the competitors to the event at the K2 Centre at Crawley and spent the day with them.

He said: “The competitive spirit was evident from all those who took part and, as always, it was a pleasure to attend the event.

“It was nice to see many familiar faces among the other competing teams who greatly appreciate what the organising committee and Rotarians running the various activities do to put on an event like this.”

The Arun team, which meets in Bognor, was led by stalwart helper Kate Allen MBE.
