A WOMAN with a passion for performance has been nominated for this year’s Woman of the Year awards.
Jackie Kenyon, from Bognor Regis, has been put forward for the Woman in Arts category for setting up and running her company, Knightstar Productions.
Jackie started the company with the aim of providing an opportunity for people, both youths and adults, to develop their performing skills by putting on theatre productions at the Regis Centre.
“I was very surprised to receive this nomination, but also very grateful for the appreciation and recognition,” said Jackie.
“I do what I do because I love passing on my knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for the theatre to others and seeing what it does to them!
“Particularly the group of youngsters I have been working with over the past few months – seeing them take part in a theatrical production and watching them grow not only as performers but in their social skills and in confidence in so many areas makes me very happy!
“My aim with Knightstar Productions is to provide inclusive opportunities for local people to enable them to have the fantastic experience of taking part in a high-quality theatrical production. I set up the company in memory of my late father Colin Knight who always supported me in my love of the theatre and performing and therefore I want others to also have that amazing opportunity.”
The person who nominated Jackie said: “Jackie needs recognition in order to grow and continue to offer these fantastic opportunities for performers young and old. She offers quality theatre helping to keep arts in the town.
