HELP for flooded homes and businesses across the Bognor Regis area is on the way.
Arun District Council’s cabinet has agreed to support the repair and renewal grant which will help stop the re-flooding of homes and businesses.
Dudley Wensley, the deputy leader and cabinet member for corporate governance, said: “This is excellent news.
“The prime minister has made the right decision to delegate the power to administrate this funding to local authorities.
“It is local authorities who can make sure those who need it are given the money.”
The council has received some 23 expressions of interest in the scheme, which means the budget required so far is £155,000.
The most any home or business can apply for is £5,000 and it is only available for flooding which happened between December 1 of last year and March 31 this year.
The flood measures must also improve the property’s resilience or resistance to flooding.
Arun will reclaim the money spent from Defra.
