HEAVY rain and strong winds are expected in West Sussex from tomorrow morning (January 31).

The Met Office said heavy rain will hit the south coast from 8am tomorrow morning, and this is expected to clear by 3am on Saturday morning.

“The public should be aware of possible disruption, primarily due to further flooding, chiefly in areas already, or recently, affected,” said a Met Office spokesman.

Strong winds will affect the area from 6am on Saturday, easing off 24 hours later in the early hours of Sunday.

“Winds will increase on Saturday, with gusts widely to 50 to 60 mph,” said the spokesman.

“Additionally large waves could lead to over-topping along some coastlines. The public should be aware of these hazards.

“The combination of very strong winds, large waves and high tides will lead to hazardous conditions at times in some coastal areas.”
