Storms leave train service suspended

Rail news.

Rail news.

Train services have been disrupted as people try to make their way home for Christmas.

Southern Rail said no trains are currently running until all tracks are cleared of debris after last night’s (Monday, December 23) high winds.

The company said it is testing lines to see if they are clear.

A spokesperson for Southern Rail said: “Several lines are suffering from a combination of flooding, blockages from fallen trees, power supply failure or potential landslips.

“Trains are suspended until the work is complete and we do not expect this to happen until much later in the morning.”

An additional service is planned to operate between Barnham and Brighton at 8.30am.
