EVENTS to celebrate St Wilfrid’s Love Your Hospice week get started today (Friday, February 7).

The week of fundraising and awareness starts today with a quiz night (tickets sold out).

Tomorrow (Saturday, February 8) brave hospice supporters will be taking to the skies in the Leap for Love, organised with skyline.

A team of 30 will be literally falling in love for the hospice as they complete a sponsored 10,000ft tandem parachute jump.

One of those taking part is hospice volunteer Mick Jelly: “My wife and I have been volunteering on the hospice inpatient unit for a few months now and we think St Wilfrid’s is a wonderful charity and I just really wanted to do something to help continue their good work.”

Also taking part is trustee Peter Stoakley who is raising money and celebrating his 70th birthday with the leap.

Tuesday is Tatttosday, with fundraisers being encouraged to wear temporary tattoos to show their support.

Tattoos will be on sale from Monday at St Wilfrid’s shops and other outlets.

The Observer is also getting involved with a special feature and we want you to get in touch to tell us why you love your hospice.

You can tweet your reasons to @ChiObserver, post them on Facebook or email Sheena Campbell with the catchline ‘Love Your Hospice’.
