A NEW state-of-the-art pitch in Felpham will be the perfect place to get stuck into sport.

Thanks to funds of £210,000 from Arun District Council and a further £150,000 from Sport England Inspired Facilities, the new 3G surface, fencing and lighting at the Arun Leisure Centre has now been finished.

Sports players of all ages will benefit hugely from the investment which was urgently needed as the existing 20-year-old sand pitch had reached the end of its life.

Arun’s cabinet member for environmental services Paul Dendle said “It is fantastic to see the results of the investment by Arun District Council and Sport England coming to fruition.

“The new and greatly improved pitch is now available for use by the local community and the school and I am sure it will be a very popular and well used quality facility.

“The council will continue to build on the Olympic legacy in the leisure offer for the district by taking forward some of the projects agreed in Arun’s leisure and cultural strategy.”

An official launch of the new facility will take place once the landscaping works outside the pitch have been completed.

In the meantime, the pitch is available for use. For more information about bookings, contact Inspire leisure outdoor recreation on 01243 826612.

Alternatively, call into the Felpham Way leisure centre for more information.
