A COMMUNITY speed-watch scheme is to be started in Aldingbourne.
The initiative will be used by villagers to alert motorists who are exceeding the speed limit along a stretch of the A29.
The scheme has been organised by Aldingbourne Parish Council with the help of the area’s police community support officer, Neil Billingham.
It will be set up opposite Aldingbourne Primary School.
Cllr Laurie Ward, the council’s chairman, said: “The speed of traffic through our parish has been brought up many times by residents at meetings.
“The parish council has embarked on the journey to deliver measures to help improve the safety of our local residents and those travelling through the parish,” he told a recent council meeting.
He spent an afternoon cycling round areas of concern with PCSO Billingham before agreement was gained with Sussex Police for speed-watch to begin.
